Bulbs

Plant Now for Summer Bulbs!

Here at Anderson’s we have the largest bulbs on the market. And large bulbs produce the largest flowers!

Bulbs will slowly grow through the early spring and surprise you in the Summer! Don’t be intimated by bulbs, they’re easy to grow and they always let you know that warm weather is on the way.

After all, what would Spring be without a little gardening?

How to Plant Bulbs

Now is the time to plant bulbs. They will slowly grow through the winter and peak out of the dirt to meet you in spring. By spring you’ll have forgotten all about them so they will seem to be little miracles that emerge out of nowhere. Don’t let these little miracles intimate you.

Placing in the ground

When placing a bulb in the dirt, think of the bulbs like a cone. Most have a rounder, more flat side. The other looks more like a cone, similar to an onion. The cone part goes up towards the sky when planting the bulb in the dirt.

How deep do they go?
It’s as simple as planting the bulb 3x as deep as the bulb is wide. So for example if you bulb is 1″ wide than plant in 3″ deep.  Once you bulb is in the dirt, go ahead and add 1.5 teaspoons of Espoma Bulb-Tone in your bulb hole, cover it up and your done!

How do I water them?
Water bulbs about once a week. Each time you water make sure you saturate the soil enough so that the water makes it to the bulb which may be planted several inches below the surface.
